Gathered pleat curtains are sometimes known as pencil pleat curtains. This heading is most commonly made by using a rufflette tape. This is sewn by machine to the top of the curtains whilst the fabric is lying flat. Once the tape is attached there are strings that can be drawn up. Creating the gathered effect once pulled to the desired fullness.

At Sue Whimster Curtains we also make this heading by hand. Each stitch is carefully sewn, by our skilled, seamstresses and then gently pulled to give the gathered finish.

Gathered pleat or pencil pleat curtains can be unlined, lined only or lined and interlined depending on the look required.

Top Tip!    Gathered curtain are easily adjustable.
