Back in 1989 Sue started out making curtains for friends and family at home and went on to form her company.
Over the years her company has gone from strength to strength. In 2012 she moved her workforce to a large industrial unit in South London. Sue works full time, not only managing the company on a daily basis, but is also available for site meetings.
The vast majority of her curtains and soft furnishing are made in house by her skilled seamstresses and are overseen by both herself and her dedicated team. Although a majority of Sue's work is in the UK, her services have been commissioned all over the world. These have included a multitude of projects for Interior Designers and Private clients. Projects have ranged from residential properties to show houses, country residencies to penthouses and holiday homes to castles.
Sue has been lecturing at KLC Design School in Chelsea Harbour, London for the last 10 years. KLC Design School in one of the UK’s Leading Colleges for Interior Design. Sue lectures Degree and Diploma students in “Professional Curtain and Blind Making” and “Window Treatments”

As Sue’s ‘right hand’ Nicky is a vital member of Sue’s team. As well as working closely with Sue running her projects - she’s also involved with the day to day logistics of the company -from looking after the office diary and our team of fitters to making sure all orders are made on time and in the correct place ready for fitting.
Senior Project Manager
Klara has worked within the high end made to measure soft furnishings industry for over 6 years. Throughout this time Klara has project managed a vast range of soft furnishing projects in a variety of residences from mansions to embassies. With a growing interest in home automation across the UK, Klara has increased her knowledge in electrically operated curtains and blinds and runs the majority of home automation projects for Sue Whimster Curtains. She is both office based and site based so it could be Klara meeting you on site of your project to go through options, advise on products and to measure up.
Project ManagerAnne Fordham started working for Sue Whimster Curtains Ltd in 2012. Anne was born, raised and educated in Greenwich. Whilst on maternity leave she took a local college course to learn about soft furnishings which had always been a hobby. After gaining a City & Guilds Diploma in soft furnishings she found employment with a local drapery retailer. Her job was to advise customers on fabric and style. After this she had a career change and took a job in in the financial sector although it was always her intention to return to the world of fabrics and soft furnishings. Her job for Sue Whimster Curtains involves contact with designers, manufacturers and suppliers.
Project ManagerHaving spent over 30 years working in the fashion industry, Theresa decided to take a short career break and joined Sue Whimster Curtains Ltd as their Lead Estimator in February 2017. For the first year, Theresa predominantly generated all estimates for customers that made enquiries through our website, as well as assisting the project managers with quotes and occasional orders. During this period, Theresa began to form beneficial knowledge of curtains and soft furnishings and has since progressed to project manager. For a very long time, Theresa could not see herself escaping from the world of fashion and now finds learning about another industry very refreshing.
Lead EstimatorIsabela is fresh out of Leeds University with a bachelors degree in Graphic Art and Design having just started at Sue Whimster Ltd in 2018. Moving to London from Mumbai, her love for textiles and interior design have been ever-present in her work. She is happy to advise customers on fabrics and styles that would suit their requirements. Isabela has interned with companies like Vogue India, Relay for Life and TEDx having given her both a leadership and administration role working within high end industries. She is our lead estimator and is always quick to help with any of your queries!
Workroom ManagerMasooma is the Workroom Manager is she is responsible to ensuring our products are being made at the highest quality standards. She has an eye for detail and a wealth of experience in the process of manufacturing soft furnishings.
Online Development ManagerMatt is a technically skilled IT and Internet professional with many years agency experience particularly in the areas of search and social media marketing. Matt began his career in IT over 20 years ago working for IBM. He qualified with the British Computer Society and studied Computer Science at Westminster University.
Matt has worked as an SEO and online marketing specialist on premium brands including Friends Reunited, BAA, Desperados Beer Microsoft, Hitachi, Teletext Holidays, Toshiba , The Royal Opera House and Kenco.
Matt will be responsible for all things digital here at Sue Whimster Curtains. He will take a lead role in the planning and execution of the Sue Whimster digital marketing and website development ensuring we drive website enquiries through tactical marketing in line with the business focus.
